Save Lokayukta and provide us a strong Jan Lokpal

Karnataka Lokayukta has been a role model for fighting corruption and created hope that the menace of corruption could be tackled. Fear of the consequences of a strong anti corruption agency, honest and fearless in its investigations with power to prosecute created a threat to the corrupt politicians and officers in the state. The very existence of Lokayukta is being questioned by corrupt politicians in our state. Offices of Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta have been left vacant for several months now. Police officers of repute have been transferred from Lokayukta at critical junctures, hampering investigations and affecting morale. There is a systematic attempt to affect the performance and weaken the normal functioning of this institution. People all across India demand a strong Lokpal. Parliament is expected to pass Lokpal bill in winter session. Uttarakhand has enacted Lokayukta Act on the lines of the Janlokpal bill. At the same time, our state government has practically paralyzed Karnataka Lokayukta!
To demand a strong Janlokpal and to save the Lokayukta in Karnataka State a rally is being organized on 27th/ Dec/ 2011 from D.S. Chowk, Bogarves to D.C. Office, Belgaum via College road at 10am to 2pm. Based on the response and the decisions taken at the standing committee the protest will continue. This rally is being organized by Manjunath.R. Banashankari, President, Anti Corruption Organization, Belgaum, Abhishek Desai, Santosh Patil the members of India against Corruption Belgaum.We request all the students of the schools and colleges of belgaum to join us and support the cause and show that we Indians are united. The crowd will then move towards Sardar Grounds after submission of the memorandum to the district commissioner.

Major Demand:
Provide us Strong Jan Lokpal drafted by Team Anna.

Our demands:
• Immediate appointment of Lokayukta and all open positions in Lokayukta.
• Action on Illegal Mining Report.
• Action on Public Distribution System Investigation.
